Scottish Water has made substantial progress in the upgrade of the sewer network in Glenmavis, with over half of the £2 million project already completed. The project aims to support development and lower the risk of future sewer flooding in the North Lanarkshire village through Scottish Water Horizons, the utility’s commercial subsidiary.
A new storage pipe has been put in place between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive to manage excess stormwater during heavy rain, while a new sewer line is being laid along Glenmavis Road and Coatbridge Road. To complete the project, two road closures are necessary for reinstatement work and to install two new manholes along the new sewer route.
Windsor Drive at the junction of B803 Raebog Road will be closed from February 3-7, followed by a full road closure on Glenmavis Road at the junction with Coatbridge Road from February 10-21. Scottish Water’s project manager, John Kerr, advises the public to plan ahead for diversions and allow extra travel time during the road closures.
Despite the necessary disruptions, Scottish Water aims to minimize inconvenience to residents and businesses in the area.
