**Neil Gaiman Faces Sexual Assault Allegation from Scots University Student**
Renowned author Neil Gaiman is under scrutiny following allegations of sexual assault raised by a student in Scotland, among seven other women. The accusers, including the university student, came forward on Monday, accusing the creator of popular works like “Good Omens” and “American Gods” of sexual misconduct. Gaiman firmly denied the allegations, asserting that all his intimate encounters have been consensual.
The specific claim raised by the university student alleges that the incident occurred while she was babysitting Gaiman’s child, with the assault supposedly taking place in the presence of Gaiman’s son in 2022. Notably, Gaiman was granted an honorary degree by St Andrews University in 2016, prompting one accuser to urge the university to rescind the award, although it remains in place.
St Andrews University has responded by offering counselling and support to the student in question, emphasising the institution’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of its students and closely monitoring the allegations. Gaiman has taken to his blog to refute the accusations, maintaining his innocence and expressing readiness to be accountable for any missteps but highlighting the falsehoods in some of the narratives shared.
The claims surfaced in an article by The New York Magazine, suggesting that the accusers had engaged with Gaiman under assumed roles that were not explicitly agreed upon. Despite a police report filed in January 2023, which did not lead to further investigation, Gaiman continues to stand by his denial of non-consensual behaviour.
