Loch Lomond Local Communities Encouraged to Share Views on Woodland Management Plans
Residents residing around Loch Lomond are being called upon to provide their input on the future management of woodlands at East Loch Lomond and Garadhban. Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is seeking feedback from locals on the proposed plans. Individuals in Balmaha, Milton of Buchanan, Rowardennan, Drymen, and Gartocharn have been invited to participate in the consultation, review the two plans online, and attend two drop-in sessions to learn more and offer comments.
The drop-in sessions are scheduled to take place at Drymen Village Hall from 3 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 4, and at Balmaha Visitor Centre from 12 pm to 3 pm on Saturday, February 8. Joseph Brennan, Planning Forester for FLS, highlighted the importance of community involvement in the planning process. He explained that separate plans have been developed for the two areas and emphasized the significance of consulting with the public before finalizing the proposals.
Brennan stressed that forestry management is a long-term endeavor, aiming to ensure the health and sustainability of the woodlands through selective thinning. He encouraged all interested parties to participate in the consultation, which runs until February 23. Those unable to attend the events in person can still access the East Loch Lomond or Garadhban plans online and provide feedback through the available form.
