### Warning Issued Months Before Florida Learjet Tragedy
In a tragic incident that unfolded on the 1st of November, a Learjet crash in Palm Beach County, Florida, claimed the lives of nine individuals, including a prominent businessman and his family. New investigations reveal that the aircraft had received a warning from air traffic control several months prior to the fateful event.
Reports indicate that audio from a separate flight incident earlier this year, obtained by The US Sun, captures a tense exchange between air traffic controllers and the Learjet’s pilots. During a flight near Newark, New Jersey, in May, the crew had struggled to maintain their altitude amid what they described as “moderate chop.” However, the controller quickly disputed this assessment, advising the pilots to descend immediately due to the severe turbulence they had encountered.
As documented in the audio, the controller questioned the pilots persistently after they affirmed experiencing difficulty in maintaining altitude. The exchange highlighted the heightened risks associated with the conditions faced by the Learjet, identified as model number 60. Unfortunately, this aircraft was involved in the subsequent crash.
On the day of the accident, conditions were perilous, with the Learjet flying in temperatures that plummeted to approximately minus 47 degrees Celsius. During the ill-fated flight, a call was received from co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, who reported ice accumulation on the aircraft and requested altitude elevation to escape the stormy weather. Shortly after being granted this request, a dire mayday alert was issued as the aircraft entered a rapid descent.
Tragically, moments before the crash, Captain Jeff Gregory was heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer, a poignant testament to the gravity of the situation. Investigators have since confirmed that the aircraft may have disintegrated before contact with the ground, further complicating the recovery efforts as around 20 investigators have been deployed to analyse the wreckage and weather data.
Among the deceased was Adam Robinson, a technology entrepreneur, alongside his wife Helen, their two young children, and their nanny. The family expressed their heartbreak, describing Robinson and his wife as devoted parents and acknowledging the warmth they shared with close friends and family.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on understanding the sequence of events that led to this heart-wrenching accident and the implications it holds for aviation safety in turbulent weather conditions.
As the tragic loss reverberates through the community and beyond, the sacrifices made by those aboard the Learjet serve as a solemn reminder of the precarious nature of aviation in severe climatic conditions, prompting an urgent call for enhanced aviation safety protocols in the future.
