ASDA has urgently warned its customers about a packaging error affecting its Chicken Dinners, which have been found to contain beef instead. The 375g packs with a best-before date of September 5, 2025, may pose a health risk to individuals with allergies or intolerances to milk, egg, or gluten. Anyone who has purchased these products is advised not to consume them and return them to the nearest ASDA store for a refund. In addition to the Chicken Dinners recall, the Food Standards Agency has issued a separate alert regarding Mlekpol Zloty Mazur Cheese in Slices. The product is being recalled by Spoldzielnia Mlecharska ‘Mlekpol’ due to the presence of Salmonella. The affected 150g packs have a batch code of 30.8/P6 and a use-by date of November 28. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning typically include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. Customers who have purchased this specific cheese are also advised not to consume it and return it to the store for a full refund.
In certain instances, food products may become unfit for sale due to various issues. These products may be either ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (customers are asked to return them). Such actions are necessary when a product poses a risk to consumers, such as incorrect allergen labelling or any other food allergy hazard. The Food Standards Agency will issue an Allergy Alert in cases where there is a food allergy risk.
