An Italian fashion designer living in Edinburgh has captured online attention after designing ‘bridal suits’ for a couple in love. Cosimo Angiulli, a recent graduate from Edinburgh University, founded his fashion label to cater to those seeking unique gender-fluid fashion, as reported by Edinburgh Live. Despite facing challenges in finding work in the industry in Scotland, Cosimo decided to create designs aligned with his vision and values.
The 31-year-old designer shared that his journey began after creating a wedding dress for a close friend, which led to requests from grooms-to-be for custom wedding outfits. Specializing in gender-fluid clothing, Cosimo crafted two distinct ensembles featuring a fitted suit paired with a long tailored jacket, offering a modern take on traditional bridal attire. The pieces received high praise during a wedding event, with attendees and the photographer expressing admiration for the unique designs.
Upon sharing a video on TikTok showcasing his creations, Cosimo garnered over 14,000 views and numerous positive comments. While he received some negative feedback and faced instances of homophobia, Cosimo remained focused on creating personalized pieces for his clients. Emphasizing the need to challenge gender norms in fashion, he highlighted the importance of offering diverse and inclusive clothing options for men.
Reflecting on his journey as a designer and his experience in Edinburgh, Cosimo expressed gratitude for the supportive community he has found in the city. Despite receiving an internship offer from a prestigious fashion brand in London, he chose to stay in Edinburgh to continue pursuing his passion. The designer, who got married himself last year, noted the freedom he feels in expressing himself authentically in Scotland, compared to his native Italy.
Cosimo’s story serves as a testament to the power of creativity and individuality in the fashion industry, urging for greater acceptance and inclusivity in mainstream design. As he continues to push boundaries and redefine traditional concepts of clothing, his work exemplifies a new wave of innovative and gender-fluid fashion choices that celebrate diversity and self-expression.
